Victoria Beckham is fashion. Victoria Beckham is posh. Victoria Beckham is thin. And as long as Victoria Beckham has been…there has been talk and speculation about her diet and workout regime. She tends to be very tight-lipped about what she does…but I get it. She doesn’t want you to focus so much on the action…simply pay attention to the outcome.
You have to wonder how she maintains, short of an eating disorder. Though strange as it may seem, I do not think that Victoria Beckham has an eating disorder, nor do I think she suffers from disordered eating. I think that she is incredibly disciplined…to the point of obsession. But it’s understandable. She is fashion, and you cannot be fashion without the body. Look at Anna Wintour. Look at Rachel Zoe. Look at Donatella Versace. All these women with their petite frames that eat, sleep, and breath fashion. You must be dedicated if you want to fit the mold. And Victoria Beckham is dedicated. She is.
She has let information on her diet and exercise regimen slip every once in a while. She runs 4 to 5 miles a day on the treadmill 6 days a week, and enlisted the help of celebrity trainer, Tracy Anderson — famous for shaping Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna, after the birth of her daughter, Harper Seven. She also lives on a diet of steamed fish and raw vegetables; and for her birthday, in lieu of cake, she nibbled on a fruit plate.
You see? Discipline. And as much as Victoria would like to believe that she represents the average woman, I don’t know any average women with this mindset. Of course, we work out and watch our diets. But I would like to believe that we are having cake on our birthday. Dammit, it’s our birthday!
